Chapter 138: I Miss You Too (3)

At the same time, the DNA results at the police department had come out.

They were out of leads, all the suspects had alibis, and so, this report was undoubtedly going to be a light shining down on Deng Chuan and the rest.

No matter what, this is still a breakthrough.

The girl is called Guo Min, an art student from the capital, but she is not a local here.

After locking onto her as the main suspect, Deng Chuan brought his team to Guo Min’s school. And luckily, the department heads usually stayed late even during the holidays.

Guo Min’s class teacher brought them to Guo Min’s dorm room where she was not present, but her roommates were there, so they asked them a few questions about her.

From their descriptions, they could catch a small ant trail.

Guo Min loves dressing up and hanging out with the seniors she knows.

She used to be a cheerful girl, but about the start of this semester, around a month or so before the midterms, she suddenly turned into a whole different person.

She was silent, lonely, and gradually, they drifted further and further away.

Deng Chuan, “Any other signs before the change?”

“No.”

“I don’t think so, I can’t remember.”

After a while, the one who was silent the whole time opened her mouth. “I remember it. From what I can remember, I don’t think she came home that night. Our school curfew isn’t that strict so she would come back no matter how late she ended up playing around outside. But she didn’t return that night.”

Deng Chuan frowned and exchanged glances with his partner.

Both of them saw almost the same guesses in each other’s eyes.

Jian Huai retraced her gaze. “Do you know where Guo Min is now?”

The three of them shook their heads. “Not sure, she got up early this morning and hasn’t been back since.”

It wasn’t until the evening that Guo Min finally appeared.

When she saw the police, there was a flash of panic in her eyes.

However, the panic was only temporary. She calmed down in almost the next instant.

Without even needing Deng Chuan to indicate their intentions, she took the initiative to speak. “I killed Zhou Chao. I’ll go with you.” When she said this, her face was devoid of any expression.

However, Jian Huai could clearly catch Guo Min’s evasive gaze and her shaking legs. She narrowed her eyes and quickly said before the captain could speak, “Take me away.”

Deng Chuan, “…”

At the police department, interrogation room.

A strong light in the corner was shining directly on top of Guo Min.

Deng Chuan and Jian Huai sat directly in front of her, preparing to take notes.

Outside of the interrogation room was another room that could oversee the situation inside. Qiao Fei, the forensic scientist who performed the autopsy on Zhou Chao stood there, leaning to the side, eyes fixed on the situation inside.

The fact that Guo Min would admit it so quickly was completely out of their expectations.

Due to working overtime these days, the people in charge of this case felt relieved. Some continued to frown in doubt, however.

Deng Chuan, “Speak. How did you kill him?”

Guo Min lowered her face and spoke with a straight face. “I have a grudge against Zhou Chao. He raped me.” Jian Huai, “Why didn’t you call the police?”

Guo Min, “Would that have helped? I know what sort of background he has.”

Within that quiet space, the girl slowly described what happened to her. Word by word, she spoke of her hatred and motive for the killing.

The air seemed to freeze up in the room and the atmosphere gradually turned grim.

Guo Min even described the process in which she killed Zhou Chao. But the difference is, she described this encounter vaguely. Her eyes were darting around, and even the last few words sounded uncertain. “I stabbed him with a knife while he was unguarded.”

Many of the details and evidence they found at the scene were not mentioned.

Even though Deng Chuan was deliberately setting up traps for her, she jumped straight into them, as if she was eager to convict herself.

Deng Chuan and Jian Huai looked at each other.

Guo Min, “I still have something to ask. Is it possible to have a more lenient sentence if I confess?”

Deng Chuan raised his brows, indicating for her to continue.

Only

Guo Min, “Actually, I didn’t have any ideas of seeking revenge on Zhou Chao at first. I knew my limits.”

Guo Min, “But later on, it was actually the owner of Er Pavilion who pushed me to do it.”

Deng Chuan, “Yan Cheng? Sixth Young Master Yan?”

Guo Min shrank her neck and nodded slowly. The hands that were resting on the table were clenched into fists. Following that, as if she had gathered great courage, she shut her eyes and said with certainty. “Yes, he was the one who told me to do it.”
