Chapter 88 Trial 3

She was however, pleasantly surprised when Jett, who she had previously overlooked as not worth the time, approached her after class one day.

Jett had seemed like one of the many competent, but not exceptional. However, when he expressed genuine interest in the intricacies of magic, her perception of him began to shift.

His questions were advanced, delving into theories and principles that most students didn\'t even think to ask about.

It wasn\'t just about casting spells for him; it was about understanding the very essence of magic.

\'Impressive,\' she thought, her eyes narrowing slightly as she observed him. \'Most of them only want to know how to make things explode, but this one...\'

Gwendolyn felt a spark of curiosity. \'He wants to understand the art behind the power.\'

Despite her initial assumptions that he didn\'t quite measure up to some of her other star pupils, she found herself compelled to give him more of her time.

It wasn\'t just his knowledge, it was his eagerness to learn, his desire to dig deeper, that intrigued her, plus this was her opportunity to get close to him so she could discretely get to the others.

For the next hour, they discussed magic and its many theories, exchanging ideas in a conversation that felt more like a dialogue between equals than a teacher and student.

By the time Jett left to meet with the others, she had offered him an open invitation to seek her out whenever he needed guidance on magic.

As she watched him walk away, she couldn\'t help but feel a sense of satisfaction: maybe she should use mentoring him as a disguise to get to the Divine Lords.

Little did she know, Jett had his own plans. He intended to use this newfound connection to gain access to materials and information beyond his current reach.

Yet, even as he considered this, a vague sense of unease lingered: had she noticed something about him that set him apart from the rest?

"So, are you done with that thing I asked for last time?" Jett asked, his tone casual but with an underlying eagerness.

"Yeah, I\'ve been done for a while now," Cedric replied, reaching into his bag and pulling out the weapon he had crafted. It gleamed under the light, a masterpiece of his forge.

"Cool," Jett grinned as he took the weapon from Cedric\'s hands, feeling its weight and balance. "I\'ll be taking those off your hands then."

As he examined the weapon, a satisfied smirk crossed Jett\'s face. \'Perfect,\' he thought. With this, his plans were slowly falling into place.

"But why would you need something like this?" Cedric asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. He knew what the items were, but he couldn\'t quite understand how Jett intended to use them.

Jett casually glanced at the ten flying swords Cedric had crafted, each one a masterpiece in its own right. The swords were sleek and deadly, their edges honed to a razor\'s sharpness.

The blades were forged from adamantium, a material known for its incredible strength and durability, capable of withstanding even the most powerful of impacts without a single scratch and one of the best conductors of Aura.

The hilts were elegantly designed, with intricate patterns etched into the metal, giving them an air of both beauty and lethality.

"Oh, nothing special," Jett replied with a smirk, his eyes gleaming with a secret he wasn\'t ready to share. "You\'ll find out when the time is right." Without waiting for a response, he turned and began to walk away, leaving Cedric to ponder his intentions.

\'What does he plan to do with weapons like those?\' Cedric thought as he watched Jett\'s figure disappear into the distance. \'Those are weapons you\'d normally see on a rogue or an assassin.\' The thought troubled him for a moment. \'Maybe it\'s for someone else.\'

Another fruitful week had passed, filled with both challenges and victories. The group had worked tirelessly, and it was now time for the next trial.

Just as they had planned, they managed to gather enough money from selling monster drops, items, and pills that Cedric and Marcella had crafted.

With their earnings, they purchased teleportation scrolls, ensuring they had the means to make a quick escape if needed.

While gathering resources, they had also taken the opportunity to increase their levels, pushing themselves to the limit in order to be better prepared for whatever lay ahead.

Every member of the group had grown stronger, honing their skills and gaining new abilities. They knew that in this world, strength was everything, and they weren\'t about to take any chances.

Once they were ready, they all returned to the place where their next trial awaited. As they approached, they saw Alok standing in his usual spot, his tall figure shrouded in an air of calm authority.

He was silent as always, his piercing gaze watching them closely as they arrived.

As they arrived at the trial grounds, a notification suddenly appeared before them, hovering in the air:

[Continue the trial? Y/N]

[Trial Completion 2/14]

"I can\'t wait to finally be done with this shitty trial," Finn sighed, his frustration evident as he clicked "Yes."

Immediately, another notification followed:

[Defeat all 280,000 monsters/undead within 10 minutes.]

A timer began counting down, giving them exactly five minutes to prepare.

The group was instantly hyped, adrenaline surging through their veins. This was it, the kind of challenge they had been training for. But as the reality of the situation sank in, not everyone shared the same enthusiasm.

"You\'ve got to be kidding me," Jett muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. The sheer number of enemies they were about to face was staggering but that wasn\'t the only problem

"Ugh, hell no. Of all the things, why undead?" Finn nearly screamed, his voice tinged with both surprise and dread.

The mention of "undead" caused both Jett and Finn to freeze, their faces draining of color as they exchanged worried glances.

"What\'s up with both of you?" Elora asked, noticing their sudden shift in demeanor. Her concern grew as she looked between them.

"I know, right? 280,000 in 10 minutes. That\'s like 28,000 every minute, and if we all work together, each of us just has to take out 2,000 every minute," Cedric explained, his voice taking on an excited edge as he quickly calculated the odds.

"This really isn\'t the time to show off your geek trait, Cedric," Seraphina mused, though there was a hint of a smile on her lips. She knew he was just trying to keep the mood light, but the tension was palpable.

"How are we supposed to take out 4,000 each for 5 minutes?" Freya asked, her eyes wide as she began to grasp the magnitude of the task before them.

"I knew something was fishy when the last trial ended too cleanly. We\'ve been set up," Aiden whined, his usually confident demeanor faltering. The task seemed impossible, even for someone of his caliber.

As the seconds ticked away, the gravity of their situation became clear. This was more than just a trial: it was a test of their limits, and they would have to give everything they had to survive.

"She\'s right, we don\'t have that much firepower," Evelina added, her voice tinged with worry. "And I\'m pretty sure I didn\'t bring enough arrows."

"You\'re an archer, you can never have enough arrows," Asher remarked, trying to comfort her. But his words seemed to miss the mark, as Evelina frowned at him instead, clearly not reassured.

\'Damn it, do I have to go all out in front of them?\' Jett wondered. \'There should be a way to utilize their abilities for a situation like this.\'

Time was running out, and they still hadn\'t figured out how to deal with the overwhelming number of undead. The pressure was mounting, and the group was on edge, each of them trying to think of a solution.

"I have an idea," Rey suddenly spoke up, his tone filled with confidence. His voice cut through the tension, causing everyone to fall silent.

\'The MC wants to speak, this should be good,\' Jett thought, his interest piqued as he turned his full attention to Rey.

"Then let\'s hear it," Rosa bickered, eager to hear what Rey had in mind.

Rey quickly made them gather around. "The plan is simple," he began. "We gather them all together by using crowd control to focus their agro at one point, then unleash a massive AOE attack to wipe them out in one go."

It was a solid plan: a tactic most gamers used in situations like this. The idea of drawing the undead to a single location and then obliterating them with a coordinated assault made sense.

However, there were still significant issues to consider.

"So, how many of us can use crowd control skills on a large scale? My skills don\'t really work with attracting enemies, so I\'m not your guy," Aiden admitted, seeking volunteers to fill the gap in his strategy.

"I can," Matthew said eagerly, stepping up without hesitation.

"But that\'s only one," Asher pointed out, sighing as he explained the flaw. "It\'s not going to be enough for all of them, and it\'ll be too much for us to handle. We need to make sure we can fully utilize our attacks by getting them in one place, but we also need to spread them out enough so we don\'t get overwhelmed."

"I can also use a crowd control skill on a large scale," Rey said, hoping to ease Asher\'s concerns.

"And me too," Morrigan added, her voice steady with determination.

"Same here," Rosa followed, stepping in to support the plan.

As the group began to see the pieces coming together, Jett\'s mind was already racing ahead. \'This might work,\' he thought, \'but it needs to be refined.\'

He had already devised a plan from everything they had discussed, and now it was time to share it. With a confident smirk, Jett spoke up. "Well then, we\'re switching up the plan, so everyone pay attention: I\'m only going to say this once so listen up."

All eyes turned to Jett, ready to hear his strategy, knowing that their survival depended on executing it perfectly.
