Chapter 1365: Essence Ling Heavenly Field
Chapter 1365: Essence Ling Heavenly Field
Glancing at Zhang Shun, Gong Zhuo saw the director chuckling in amusement. “From the looks of it, the Twin Star Pirates aren’t nameless juniors in the Chaotic Sea of Stars. At least True Immortal Shang heard of them.”
There was some part of Zhang Shun that was mocking Shang Xia for being someone who didn’t know much from all the questions he had asked earlier, but Shang Xia didn’t care.
In the eyes of the 2 high-level True Immortals of the Wanyun Association, Shang Xia had already portrayed himself as someone who is deeply infatuated with crafting talismans and didn’t care about anything else.
Shang Xia laughed and quickly threw out another question. “From the looks of it, you guys reached an agreement?”
“It went alright. Our Wanyun Association doesn\'t have too many requests. All we want is a piece of land. The rest will belong to them. However... It always pays to be careful. I believe True Immortal Shang also knows that we have been concealing your presence. The Twin Star Pirates failed to detect you earlier so that you can still remain as our hidden trump card.” Zhang Shun nodded slowly.
Shang Xia agreed, “I have already understood your intentions. Please rest assured. I will do my best when the time comes.”
Zhang Shun continued to nod before turning to Gong Zhuo. Both of them seemed to understand each other’s intentions and he continued, “I think you have a general grasp of our target... It is an Essence World, but there seems to be something special about it.”
Shang Xia didn’t say anything as he waited for him to continue.
Zhang Shun quickly added, “The world we are attacking is called the Spirit Dawn World. It’s a Spirit World that is a vassal of an Essence World and our operation is probably going to be a little risky.”
“Probably?” Shang Xia instantly heard the doubt in his voice.
Zhang Shun had long since said that Shang Xia might look like he wasn’t as well informed about various matters, but he wasn’t as foolish and easily manipulated. In contrast, he was extremely sharp. He might not understand too many things, but he would be able to quickly connect the dots.
“Yes... It’s just a probability that we might run into trouble.” Zhang Shun confirmed and explained, “The Martial Emptiness Realm Sage of their Heavenly Field seems to have run into some sort of problem. It’s said that he made a mistake during his cultivation, but there are also rumors saying that he went missing while adventuring in some starry ruins out there. Whatever it is, he won’t be able to interfere.”
Shang Xia thought for a second before asking again, “Are those really just rumors?”
“Of course not.” Zhang Shun chuckled. “Not too long ago, the Heavenly Field was also attacked by several Star Pirate groups. When its heavenly screen was broken, many True Immortals entered and started a free for all. More than half their world and their world origin were stolen, and they had to call for reinforcements from nearby worlds. Only then did they avoid their world’s destruction. Even so, after the ordeal, they wouldn’t be able to maintain their status as a Spirit World. They probably already regressed into an Azure World.”
Zhang Shun looked at Shang Xia who was listening carefully to his analysis and laughed suddenly, “From the time the invasion started to the time their reinforcements arrived, the Martial Emptiness Realm Sage never appeared. It was said that after the invasion, many True Immortals went to the Essence World to request an audience with their Sage in order to get someone to maintain order, but they were stonewalled by the superpower. They mentioned something about it not being convenient to meet guests.”
“That seemed to also confirm that the Martial Emptiness Realm Sage wouldn’t be able to interfere in any of our matters!” Zhang Shun concluded.
Shang Xia nodded without saying a word.
Gong Zhuo, who was standing beside them, finally spoke up, “True Immortals Shang, have you heard about the other world that was attacked back then?”
Shang Xia looked over curiously, and Gong Zhuo laughed, “The world that was attacked back then was called the Spirit Dusk World. The Piercing Cloud Bandits was the group responsible for the attack. They made a deal with the Chen Dynasty of our world, but they were attacked midway and disappeared. I believe I mentioned something about this to you back then, and you should have also learned something from the members of the Chen Dynasty and Qingling Palace.”
Shang Xia mumbled, “I heard of it, but according to what you said, the details seem extremely complicated. Whatever it is, the party that robbed the Piercing Cloud Bandits might have been sent by the other dynasties. None of them thought they would be double-crossed.”
Seemingly thinking of something, Shang Xia asked, “Right, the members of the Chen Dynasty even sent someone to intercept me on the way back. They also wanted to know if I was behind it.”
He couldn’t help but shake his head.
Spirit Dusk World, Spirit Dawn World... The times they represented were perfectly opposite each other.
Zhang Shun and Gong Zhuo exchanged another gaze.
Gong Zhuo was eventually the person to speak, “How is this plan? Can we succeed?”
Shang Xia smiled in response. “I am a guest you invited. I’ll follow your instructions. Moreover, even if their Sage appears eventually, he wouldn’t target me of all people the moment he appears, right?”
All 3 of them roared with laughter the next moment.
Even though Shang Xia agreed to work with them, he wouldn’t let down his guard.
At the very least, he knew that both sides would definitely have something up their sleeves in case the Martial Emptiness Realm Sage really appeared.
Actually, the actions of the Twin Star Pirates and the Wanyun Association might have already entered the eyes of several interested parties. The reason no one bothered them was because they probably wished to use this attack to probe out the remaining strength of the Heavenly Field.
Of course, if everything went smoothly, one could imagine the destruction that would befall the Heavenly Field. The great powers would definitely feast on it!
The reason Shang Xia chose to involve himself in a fierce battle unrelated to him, despite being aware of the potential danger, was not only his desire to truly understand the starry world beyond the Heaven Observation Field, but it was also because he was extremely strong and was assured he would be able to escape.
Shang Xia’s crimson soul tablet in his sea of consciousness had undergone certain changes after devouring a third of the World Origin Source.
In the past, Shang Xia couldn’t be sure it was the Crimson Soul Tablet that saved him from the danger he ran into. Things have changed. He was confident he would be able to call it out during battle!
The only problem was that he couldn’t summon it in the situation they were in. Be it the projection or the real deal, if he summoned it in the Star Ship, he would be exposing his greatest trump card to others!
No matter what, Shang Xia absorbed world origin from many different worlds. From the sheer amount it took alone, there was no way it still had heavy injuries. He wouldn’t doubt that it possessed a terrifying might.
In the following days, they would have to travel silently through the void with the Twin Star Pirates.
Both sides had methods to conceal the tracks of their fleets. The Wanyun Association used some sort of combined formation like usual. The Twin Star Pirates used something like a sail. The sails on all 4 of their Star Ships were special treasures that could hide the presence of the ship they were mounted on as it traveled through the void.
Shang Xia noticed how both sides worked together to prepare to attack their target.
Attacking any world, even a Spirit World, was something that could only be done when they held an absolute advantage. It was nothing like how battles were conducted in the Heaven Observation Field. There was no way they would drive their fleets over to the heavenly screen before fighting a huge battle with the other side.
Naturally, the preparation process was extremely complicated. The experts who took part in the invasion came from different places and they had all sorts of skills. Arranging their tasks alone to ensure nothing went wrong was a massive challenge. Just that alone was an amazing undertaking in Shang Xia’s eyes.
It wasn’t as though Shang Xia had never seen a war between worlds. However, the standard shown by the Wanyun Association and the Twin Star Pirates was something even the Spirit Mammoth World and Spirit Abundance World couldn’t match up to.
Watching the entire process of the Spirit Dawn World’s invasion, the sense of crisis Shang Xia was feeling grew stronger.
There were barely 10 or so years left before the disappearance of the Star Curtain. The moment the Heaven Observation Field was revealed to the sea of stars, how were they supposed to protect themselves against such sophisticated methods of invasion?
Both fleets traveled through the sea of stars and continued to make all sorts of preparations. A month passed in the blink of an eye.
Even Shang Xia had no idea which part of the sea of stars they were in, but he managed to produce a few more rank six talismans.
With the preparations of both sides reaching an end, Shang Xia received news of the Spirit Dawn World from Zhang Shun and the Essence Ling Heavenly Field where it was located. Naturally, the information of the Essence Ling World came along with it.
One day, when Shang Xia was reading the introduction on the experts of the Essence Ling World, Spirit Dawn World, Azure Dusk World, and other worlds in the Heavenly Field, he felt the fleets slowing to a halt.
Before he could leave his cabin, Gong Zhuo walked over with a solemn expression and explained the situation.
“True Immortal Shang, we have reached the edge of the chaotic streams of space around the Essence Ling Heavenly Field.”
